And They Ask Why I Like Retirement!

    Days of the week?
Six Saturdays, one Sunday. Six Friday nights included.

    Bedtime?
    Midnight, and 3:00 pm.

How many retirees does it take to change a light bulb?
Only one, but it’ll likely take a half-day – say from brunch until naptime

What's the biggest gripe of retirees?
There’s not enough time to get everything done.

Among retirees what is considered formal attire?
    Tied shoelaces.

Why are retirees slow to clean out the basement, attic, or garage?
They know that as soon as they do, one of their adult children will want to store stuff there.

What do retirees call a long lunch?
    Normal.

Why does a retiree often say he doesn't miss work, but misses the people he used to work with?
He is too polite to tell the whole truth.

What does a retiree do all week?
Monday to Friday – Nothing. Saturday & Sunday – Rest.

Then rest in peace..... Just kidding. Sounds like you're enjoying retirement. You should.

Obviously it’s an intentionally exaggerated list.
    More or less.

I do have periodic bursts of satisfyingly productive activity.
But the time (begin and duration) and determinations of the purpose, necessity, and value of an activity or task is more than ever within my control.

Tax return filing preparation excepted. :crap:

The day I first realized exactly how much I really liked retirement was the day of the first snow after I retired. I awoke around the same time I always did for work and looked outside, then went back to bed, thinking, "I'm glad I'm retired and I don't have to drive to work in that."
"A day spent in the fields and woods, or on the water should not count as a day off our allotted number upon this earth."
