Congrats to Tatonka on a full day kilted!
To answer MrMayhem, the kilt and Scout shirt (of the Boy Scouts of America uniform) do go fairly well together, especially if you've got a MacLaren tartan. (As has been noted in past threads, Clan MacLaren allows Scouters that have been Wood Badge trained to become associate - non-voting - clan members).
[off-topic] At least the "old" shirt works pretty well with my Scott red - the BSA just introduced a new uniform shirt that is a slightly greener shade of khaki/tan. They've also done away with the red tabs on the epaulets (now forest green) and the red stitching and red troop numerals - all forest green. This is partly due to new fabric technology - better moisture control and durability - and partly for the 100th anniversary coming up in 2010. The old uniform is still OK, and the new uniform is designed to mix-n-match with the old pieces so you don't have to replace everything right away.
Unfortunately, the Insigina Guide - the guide for uniform wearing - doesn't mention kilts. I generally have only worn my kilt with my uniform shirt when I'm piping. The only program that allows 'different' uniforming from the "standard" is Venture. Venturew Crews (coed groups ages 14-21) are allowed to choose their own uniform, for the most part, so they can choose kilts if they wish. If participating in large encampments (like Jamborees), they're encouraged (read expected) to wear the standard Venture uniform - Green "Explorer" shirt and gray shorts/trousers. [/off-topic]

Here is the only decent shot I have so far. I hope I have not angered the Scouting community by having done this. In my pack we only require the shirt. EagleJCS, do you know how to go about joining MacLaren?

From their website (http://www.clanmaclarenna.org/):
The Clan MacLaren Society of North America has established a special associate (non-voting) membership for any Scouter who has earned his or her Wood Badge. Wood Badge membership in the Clan MacLaren Society of North America (CMSNA) is therefore extended to all Wood Badge-trained Scouters who have completed their "ticket" and have received their Wood Badge beads. Pick up a membership form at the Clan MacLaren tent at a Highland Games. Or, download an application from here ( please include your Wood Badge Course Number! ).
Regarding your uniform, regardless of what your unit requires, the Insigina Guide is the standard to go by (and what your district/council may cite if they decide to ask you to stop wearing your kilt with the uniform). It doesn't bother me any, but there are some 'purists' in my council who say anything but the uniform (the complete uniform) is incorrect. That goes for denim (jeans) or dress slacks in place of the standard uniform pants. I'm sure you have some folks like that in your council as well.
As I said before, I only go kilted w/my uniform shirt when I'm piping so it's clear I'm not just wearing my kilt for the heck of it. The rest of the time I'm in standard uniform around the boys, unless I'm camping (sometimes even then). That's my Wood Badge training - pre 21st Century Wood Badge. (I used to be a Bear ... SR-211 1997)

Yowza! Love the pix Tatonka. I'm a Unit Commissioner here and wear my kilt to all but a few meetings and ceremonies that require specific uniforming. I usually wear my MacLaren kilt, dark green Scout shirt, brown belt and sporran, and bottle green hose with red garter ties. It's good to see people, especially scouters, stressing lessons learned (Heritage) in scouts of all ages. They are the future of the Scouting movement and our country. Way to go!
