This old boy scout agrees with you Steve....just don't think many of us would be prepared for a modesty snap wedging in a chair groove...or an unexpected swarm of bees....plucking a goose....freezing to glass...
Was kinda hoping we could add to the list of stuff we'd normally think about with stuff that really has happened that we'd not have expected...to be better prepared...or, the way this list is growing, flat out paranoid about wearing a kilt....

Has anybody else bent their kilt pin on the steering wheel? I drive two different sports cars where my legs are very close to the steering wheel rim, and I keep bending a couple of my soft silver pins. One time, this unlatched a sharp pin, but I escaped being skewered.

I am kinda curious, just what is this 'modesty snap' you guys mention.

I don't have the same kind of pleated canvas, man skirt as they do. But as I understand it, this is a snap that joins the front of the pleated canvas, man skirt to the back almost making a pair of canvas man shorts.
As I said though, I wear a different kind of pleated canvas, man skirt and have no modesty
snap.

You are correct, sir. I never use them though. the concept is a good one although, at least on me, it ends up looking like a cross between a diaper and the drawers that Sumo wrestelers wear.
And last week I was trying to replace the seat on my motorcycle and every time I stood up the snap in the front would catch on the seat lip. Frustrating, to say the least.

that just sounds weird
I'd rather wear the Vinyl HotTopic Kilt than wear that.
I saw the device mentioned a while back, and I thought the guy who referred to the 'optional modesty device' was referring to his wife.

Edit: missed where it had been answered.
I didn't like it because it makes the kilt flow strangely. I kept having the desire to shout "can't touch this" and walk sideways...
@ Sathor - I'm going to have to start calling the fiancee the OMD

As you know, I'm a camera operator for TV and films. A few years ago, I was shooting a reality show with the first generation (read test) of a new camera. At one point I crouched down to get a low angle shot, and two different (metal) parts of the camera came into contact with the two right modesty snaps on my workman's, which at the same time were both in contact with my leg. Result a 12V shock through my thigh. Not painful (think sticking your tongue to a square battery), but surprising, and it took me about three days (and several shocks) to finally figure out what was happening.

Not on a steering wheel, but I did catch one against the edge of a picnic table, the style with the bench seats attached, when I got up and bent the pin that way.
