Hang in there, you are in my prayers. I lost both my parents some years ago and grieve them a lot. One day the next generation will be born into our world and we will begin to comprehend why God takes our parents and grandparents away.

My prayers are with you and yours.

I lost my Dad two years ago to cancer, and now my Mom has cancer. We had the opportunity to talk about the inevitable, she told me what she wants, and that's to have lively music played..and toss in a few rebel songs because of that's what she is at heart.

with that said.. What do you think your Mother would like? How would she want to be remembered? You have gotten good advice from many, especially the pipers and clergy, talk to the pipers and get a feel about what they can play and what you want... The memories will last a lifetime.

    John,

I'm very sorry for your loss and wishing you lots off strength to go through this difficult time and sadness. I would do the funeral as how you, your brother and mother want(ed) to happen. It's only an one change thing. And it's very important to give last respects but also it must be comforting for the family and a good thing to look back at.

    Best wishes,
    valeria.

I can't begin to say anything very wise or helpful. Please allow me to say that I am just so sorry for your loss. I pray for you and your family, and I also pray that your mother now finds the peace and freedom that escaped her during her life. I do know that God sometimes ends the sorrow and pain for us when it is too much to bear.

"Flowers of the Forest," "Amazing Grace," and "Going Home" are good pipe numbers and appropriate for a funeral service. You have good advice above about pipers' practices, etc. Here are a couple of examples of good service music.
