that was the home they knew and lived in many have no idea of there ancestors as most didn't speak of it , its like asking alot of African Americans there heritage how many folk know which part of Africa they came from
Scotland would've just been a distant unknown island to barbados folk ....you`d really need to see the program or research some more to understand to be honest its not like they are still slaves

As an aside to this topic, it could certainly be argued that indentured servitude was a form of slavery. Many Ulster-Scots sold themselves into servitude and either died before their contract ended, or had to keep extending their contracts. Noted historian Dr. Richard Hofstadter has a very interesting essay on White Servitude here:
