I was actually at SeaWorlds San Diego the other day and as part of the sea lion and harbor seal display an announcer passed around two samples of sea lion and seal skin to feel. The sea lion would be no great substitute for the seal as its fur is shorter and harsher, not nearly as luxurient. Probably why they are not hunted to the same degree as seals.

Speaking of PETA, I was at the Kentucky Scottish Weekend a couple days ago and saw this printed on a local's t-shirt:
PETA--- People for Eating Tasty Animals (and on the back)
I love all God's creatures, fried and right next to my mashed potatoes and gravy.

    Appropriate for Kentucky.

Just ask Sir Paul and his then wife Heather Mills who almost got bitten when they were protesting on the ice.

To McCartney's credit he did play a concert in Nova Scotia a few months later even though Police couldn't guarantee his safety. Difference of opinions aside everyone had a good night.

I like seals and certainly the little white ones are cute and cuddly. But after watching Happy Feet I don't think the large ones are so cute anymore.

So, Macca almost got bitten? It would take a lot more that a seal bite to puncture that ego!
