He's going to be a professional musician, I have no doubt. He's still looking for himself. Someday he'll find it, but until then, it's a lot of letting him fall on his face.

I thought the military might be good for him, but he deals with ADHD, depression, anxiety disorders and, occasionally, obsessive/compulsive behaviors. Oh -- did I mention three, maybe four co-occurring sleep disorders? He'll go for days without sleep, get his days and nights switched around, etc., on a regular basis.

But leave it to my wife to bring me back to earth. One particularly difficult day, she said, "Look at it this way: he's proudly straight-edge, so he's clean and sober. He's never had a run-in with the law. And he's no one's father. Maybe things aren't so bad after all."
