I'll have to look at all of the book when I have time.

The snippet given was quite strange, though. My mum always used to soak rice overnight and then wash it next morning - when I had to take some rice into school for cookery I got into trouble because the teacher wanted it as it came out of the packet and I brought it in water in a jar.

I wonder if the technique had been handed down in the family.

I shall have to ask my aunts if they do the same...
