Douglas or Stewart Hunting would both be appropriate, given the regimental connections, the former to the Cameronians, Gurkhas and the Witwatersrand Rifles of South Africa, and the latter to many Scottish regiments across the Commonwealth.

Plan to drop the Black Watch, because it does not photograph or video well, and switch to Douglas or Hunting Stewart, or perhaps even Gunn.

Yes, I've considered a reinterpretation of the Cameronian Rifles, except kilted instead of trewed. Their old insignia resembles the Seal of the State of Texas.

Interesting. There used to be a ceremonial unit in Chicago, the Chicago Highland Rifles (their web site is down) that did a similar thing for the Seaforths.

I think the link above is the last trace of us on the world wide web.
The Black Watch was used because we had advisors from the Canadian Blackwatch, and because it was frugal. It was decidedly unphotogenic, which may be the reason the Canadian Blackwatch uses Royal Stewart.

The Royal Highland Regiment of Canada, the Black Watch (always two words) wears the Government Sett. Their pipers, however, do wear the Royal Stewart tartan, as did the pipers of the RHR of the British Army.

I would be interested in supporting this effort. My attempt to serve in the military was cut short by an untimely car accident, so I have no service my background, but everyone else in my family has served. I'm not sure what the requirements for membership are, but even if I cannot serve in the THR, I want to be involved in getting this going again.
Please tell us more and let's get the ball rolling!

Since the THR will no longer be a military unit attached to the State of Texas, but a civilian revival of it, there is no real connection to the military. I don't see any impediments to your joining the Texas Highland Rifles.
