    In that case, I would recommend using silver buttons.

    Sounds like the jacket and silver buttons would work together. However, the real question may be at what level of formality is the jacket going to be worn most of the time.

    If it will be worn strictly for formal and semi-formal events, go with silver buttons. If it will be worn mainly as a day jacket, I suggest horn or plain black buttons.

    I agree with all of the above comments, horn or other for tweed and less formal, silver for more formal wear...you've gotten good advice here...
