Jock, don't forget that there are other Scotmen in Scotland, and that your opinions are not necessarily those of the majority, if it where not for the likes of these clansmen, many if not all of Scotlands historic events would be forgotten.
..... and there are those that think;" lets move on, whilst remembering the past". With the greatest of respect Chris I don't think that we disagree by much. Our history should not be forgotten and I respect those that take the time to stand to and get out there in all weathers. What I and others feel uncomfortable about is the pantomime that seems to go with these events. Take the chap in the above picture with his Jacobite bonnet, his sword, his shoes, his tartan, none of which is period dress for the occasion they are celebrating. In fact, his attire has no relevance to the occassion at all! I think because of this sort of thing, there is a large "cringe factor" that does Scotland no favours whatsoever. Fine, turnout in the kilt and "modern" day attire, it is our national dress after all,but please please do not turn our history into inaccurate cheap theatre!
