    That's an interesting change as I believe all the old regiments used knife pleats. Do you think this is a cost saving measure? - less material needed and probably easier to make.

    I stand to be corrected here, but I seem to recall that the Argyll and Sutherland Highlanders had box pleats.Perhaps I am wrong?

    You are indeed correct, I doubt it was adopted from cost cutting, probably more by the action man decision making process
