You know I've read this story dozens of times. I cannot get to the end without crying at least a little bit. It has a lot to do with the death of my own father and the troubled times he and I had during the last few years of his life. The details are personal but suffice it to say that he and I didn't see eye to eye for awhile. He died before I had a chance to tell him I was sorry in person. I had sent him a letter one time. A letter that just sort of rambled on and on about the the events of my life during the previous few months. Later on my brother told me that he would read the letter every day and when my brother would visit him in the nursing home, he would say "Rich has forgiven me, I can't wait to see him". Unfortunately he died quite suddenly and I never got a chance to tell him in person. I'm pretty sure he visits me every now and again to check in on me. It's always at 3 in the morning and I always feel at peace when he visits. I used to scoff at the metaphsical stuff. I'm not so sure any more.
