What a blast that was! We talked with one of the "directors" who was fully decked-out in a very nice lederhosen outfit, he came over to us to ask what we were up to:
We told him, "Well, this is a cultural heritage event and we're wearing our cultural attire.... we're not German." He was fine with that, we enjoyed a nice chat and even took a picture with him. A shop owner that sold lederhosen showed us his kilt hanging in the changing room. Several men told us that day that they had kilts at home; we told 'em to wear them next year!
We too wore our kilts last year.

Here's my solution. I celebrate Oktoberfest by wearing my German Heritage tartan kilt from USA Kilts. I get to go kilted and celebrate my German heritage at the same time. I guess you could call it cross-cultural dressing! Anyway.....

    Prosit!!

    Scotch-tober-fest

Freelancer is right go with a German Heritage Kilt from Rocky. Now comes in the value PV material.

You must remember that Oktoberfest is held in Bavaria and they consdier themselves to be a "Frei Stadt" or Free State.....apart from the rest of Germany.

Therefore a blue and white with kilt with a fine gold line in it would be even better as that would match Bavaria's flag.

The Mrs and I were once in Bavaria (Garmisch) and only four people were not in traditional outfits. The visiting Americans and us two visiting Canadians.

BTW using the word "kraut" as a reference to Germans (such as myself) is highly offensive Walkerk.

Heck, the only people I know who speak German are either first generation immigrants or Amish.
I like that. Is it really "unfortunate"? These affairs are festivals after all.

I thank you for your considerate thoughts about my national attire. I wonder if you have thought about wearing the kilt to this event? Would it upset any one if you did?
