from Chicago. If you haven't found it yet, Alan H has posted an X-Kilt do-it yourself manual for kiltmaking. And Barb T has written "The Art of Kiltmaking". Both are great resources for the DIY kiltmaker.

BTW, the one you are wearing in the picture looks great.

I just found the X-kilt, had not found that yet, will have to look up "The Art of Kiltmaking"

I appreciate it, took me a while to get it to keep the sett and had to redo about half the pleats because I messed up, but that could also be my ocd kicking in, lol.

Thanks for all the warm welcomes !

Hello and a warm Celtic from Boston, Massachusetts.

Congratulations on sewing up a tartan kilt. I have sewn up a couple of heavy weight denim kilts, one based on the "traditional" format (Barb T's Book) and one as an X-kilt. Both were fun to make, and as I made them, I am proud to wear them. Congratulations on the good work. Barb T's book is available from her website http://www.celticdragonpress.com. It is a small amount to spend on what is THE book on kilts.

Thanks for the link, I will have to look into that, I know there are some fitting, and finishing techniques I just don't know about in making my kilt, but I was just seeing what I could do, especially on a budget.
My next project will probably be the X-kilt, still trying to completely understand all of the directions, but I think I understand the basic concept of it, so as soon as I can find and buy the material, that project will begin. I may try to add internal pockets to my design, as I do plan on wearing it, but im not sure if I have the talent quite yet to add to a design, so I may just make one to the design, then possibly modify a second attempt.
