Does anyone have a link to instructions on how to do this? My search skills are weak, but I have a couple of old sport coats that I never wear and am seriously thinking about doing this. But I have no idea how to approach it.
Maybe there's an old thread that covers this, but I'll be darned if I can find it.
That tutorial was fantastic- what great pictures of each step! Actually makes me think I could do it... We'll see!
Well, after reading the tutorial, all it does is cement in my mind that it's beyond my scope of ability. And my wife won't want to fool with it. It is a great tutorial, though.
Aw come on Tobus, all you really need to do is shorten the jacket and round out a cutaway for your sporran.
The epaulettes are a nice touch but not really necessary. And the sleeve patches are just icing on the cake.
And the FHCAG had to shorten the sleeves for her father-in-law so there are extra steps that you won't have to take with a jacket that already fits you.
Personally, I plan on getting my dad kilted for his birthday (which he just so happens to share with Robert Burns...) and I'm going to make him a simple kilt jacket by just doing the cutaway and adding epaulettes and shiney buttons.
