Rotten week
Jeez, I've had a rotten week. Then, to add insult to injury, today I just found out that the football (soccer) tickets I have for tomorrow's sold out final match that determines whether our team moves up to Division 1 is in the wrong bloody section, near the AWAY goal instead of the HOME goal.
Now, I can't expect non-soccer fans to grok the crapiness of the situation... When I couldn't buy tickets from the store, I went online and got them from someone on auction.. They SAID they were for the Home Goal section... Bloody liars!
Well, honestly, I'd rather not go than to sit on the other side of the stadium. So I think I'll just give the tickets away to some of my students here at the college. They're poor. I'm sure they'd love the opportunity to go to the game no matter where they sit.
<sigh> All hope is not lost yet -- I may still be able to get in by other means, but it's looking a lot less hopeful - game's tomorrow noon.

I have to confess, I am not a soccer fan... just what is the advantage of the Home Goal section?

You get to sit with the "casuals" and the rowdy cheering squad... In Japan they aren't dangerous like in some countries, but just a LOT of fun! They jump, sing, dance, yell, and celebrate each goal like you wouldn't believe... I call it the asylum... All the local nutjobs sit there... ("Sit" being a relative term since they stand through the whole game).
By sitting on the opposite end, you have suffer through the OTHER team's casuals doing the same thing... And on a really bad day you might end up in plaster. That's why in many places they won't even let you in the gate if you're wearing the other team's colours and going into that part of the stadium.

In Japan a 'football houligan' is somebody that won't wear their little germ mask in the crowd!

Lol! EXACTLY!
Funny thing, my employer wanted to give me a whole box of them as a gift, in preparation for flu season. I told them "thank you, but I get claustrophobic." The looks on their faces was priceless.
Update: After I gave away my 2 tix to the wrong section, I got a phone call from the Board of Ed. One of my higher-ups used to be a player for the city team, so he has some connections. I am now the proud bearer of a genuine, home-game ticket for tomorrow!
