I'd go with the tartan ties, why not?
Good for you, losing weight. Keep at it and be well.

I wear nothing but "funny" ties at work. It's my rebel side making a statement. The tie is your expression, go for it!
As for the kilt, I to have type 2, diagnosed a year and a half ago. and have lost over 100 lbs with another 20-40 to go. I bought a Black Stewart Thrifty from Stillwater Kilts. Very cheap, and velcro so I can adjust the size as I go. It has served me well so I can wear something while changing sizes.
Now if I could just get at least another 20 lbs gone then I will be about a size 37" and after the last 20 lbs that puts me in the recommended weight range, I will end up a 36" I think. With just the 20, I think I can safely buy a size 36" and wear it although just a bit tight. More incentive to finish loosing the weight!
