Personally, I really don't like the design of the Freelander sporrans at all. Though, I can see why some people do and I can respect their views on this.
But this sort of thing just isnt my taste:

With respect: have you seen one "in the flesh"?
Horses for courses -- I think they're a nice alternative to all the cookie-cutters.

Yes!
I wouldn't wear one personally, and I dont think they look great - but I see why some people do!

I for one am quite surprised (though I don't know why) that there is such a WIDE taste on sporrans and what we like and don't like. I just kind of took for granted that 'a sporran is a sporran' until recently with my collaboration with Donnie and a few other sporran design 'tweeks' I have coming down the pipeline.
I guess it kind of holds true from kilts over to sporrans... different opinions on what we like... both in budget and style (taste)!

I was aware of the creator being a member of Xmarks.
I am surely allowed to comment on the style of sporrans he makes though. I was mainly reinforcing my point that many members on here own them and love them... though I do not. Therefore I have a different opinion but can respect other peoples' as a style requires a certain taste.
I enjoy contemporary works in certain styles with my kilt, and around half of the sporrans on the Sporran Nation website would suit this style. I'm such the maker of any products - especially a distinct style of sporran; such as these or a Freelander, can acknowledge that they are not to everyone's taste and wouldn't take offence to such comments.

Instead of saying which products I do not like by name, I try to say which ones I do support.

Paul didn't say anything about the craftsmanship, only that he wouldn't wear them, I really can't see what the problem is with that, after all , all on here have opinons on all sorts of accessories , some of us don't like hair sporrans, or full face sporrans, regardless of how well they are made by whomsoever .
One of the things about this forum is that we are all allowed to have our own opinons, because after all we can choose what we want or don't want to wear.....

I never realised the joys of certain models of sporran until recently.
I now love goat and horse hair civilian sporrans for formal wear and a striking contemporary sporran for day-wear! You could say I like to be a little different...!

Design tweeks, ye say? Tell me more!
I myself rather like the chrome latch model, and the clock button model on the sporran nation website. I wonder if that wee time piece is functional?

But he wasn't being insulting or rude , just honest!
I wouldn't have thought that any craftsman expects everyone to like everything they make, and I speak as a craftsman who knows how hard it is to please everyone, and is usually happy when he pleases a few!
