    Just to muddy the water a bit, I will hike up my socks if it's cold out, even with boots.

    IMHO (haha just wanted to type that) I personally don't like the scruntched look. I think wearing them up looks better and put together. Scruntched hose, to me, have a very 1990's look to them and who wants to revisit the 90's? Not I said the cat!
