I second that, in a big way. There's a strong inclination for many folks to think that every single piece of attire that they wear with a kilt must be a "Scottish" piece of attire. To my thinking, that's nonsense.

Wear what makes you happy, under all circumstances.

...that said, your attire will have a much more cohesive level of formality if dress shoes are worn in place of the boots.

You can most certainly skip the ghillie brogues...

...Arlen's wedding outfit stands out for me as one of the most tasteful that I've seen....though I can't seem to locate it...he wore, if I remember correctly, some very simple dress shoes.

For a wedding I would stick to a pair of shoes (brogues, wingtips, oxfords whatever). Boots are for casual wear and don't suit the occasion - unless it is a very casual wedding of course. I have an admission to make here (and I hope Jock is not looking) but I wore gillie brogues to my wedding.
