I don't have a pic (maybe I can get it together) but I wear out to a rowdy pub night the black watch, black belt, black/brown Wyvern sporran, Dropkick Murphy's T-shirt tucked in, black Brit Iron Rebels mechanics shirt open and out, black combat boots and scrunched black or dark green hose.

    Uh-oh.

That's one of three different paisley shirts and one of three paisley ties that I've worn with a kilt thus far...

(The compliments I received were clearly misplaced.)

OK, I'm going to take a crack at this. I got a little carried away and have more than 10... some of them are just silly but I tried to cover a range of outfits from very informal to fairly dressy. The kilt is my new Maple Leaf PV from Canadian Casual Kilts that I picked up at a deep discount at MacHummel's closet cleaning sale.

*disclaimer* some of these photos may give hardcore traditionalists a heart attack but I mean no disrespect.

Studious: what I usually wear around the apartment while doing homework.

Sporty: the baseball glove is just a prop but I've worn an outfit like this for hiking.

Skater: I've never actually skateboarded in a kilt but do sometimes wear a hoodie and sneakers.

Chef: an apron is an essential accessory when cooking in a kilt.

Cold: for real sub-zero temperature I'd probably be wearing 16oz wool but this thread is supposed to be 1 kilt multiple looks...

Tough guy: Canadian Army parade boots and a bad attitude.

Here's some dressier outfits in increasing levels of formality. I know the OP was looking for modern looks and I did my best to look nice without being too traditional... the more formal I went, the more traditional the look ends up being.

Hef: smoking jacket and playboy logos.

Slick: if I went clubbing in a kilt I might wear this, though that's kind of a big "if."

    Sweater: a little bit dressy.

Spencer: jacket worn without a tie and the shirt collar on top of the lapels.

Sports coat: another jacket without a tie but the shirt collar inside the lapels.

    Collarless: waistcoat and collarless shirt.

Dressy: blue shirt, tie, hose, and flashes for that limited palette, modern look. I think ties and kilts look better with a waistcoat.

Very Dressy: same as above but with a Spencer jacket.

Thanks to my lass Bee for taking all these pictures of me and tying that big fat Windsor knot on my tie in the last two

He is, isn't he? And thus he very nearly carries off even the Hefner parody - an outfit that no one anywhere ever should wear.

I'd like to see more variety in the colour of kilt hose, since that can really change the look of an outfit ... as I've discovered, now that I finally have a few more colors, thanks to Slohairt at Keltoi and to Matt's 'Snow Day' sale! Otherwise, well done, sir.

Well done, sir. Thanks for making the effort...and bringing a bit of levity to it. I'm quite nearly inspired to submit some shots of my one.
Do we have a set of "themes" we want to be sure to cover? (ie I don't think I can pull of the "slick")

    Ok Garrett, mia culpa.

I just threw out the paisley. I should have known better

    Nice sets.

I particularly like the collarless and the dressy.

My wife let me know that a leather jacket is now a requirement for me.

And I'd certainly like to have more variety of hose colours! Bee bought me a new pair for Valentine's but I'm still waiting for them to arrive...
