This is ridiculous, same sort of thing happened in the State of Maine as I recall, and the designer got rich from inadvertent copyright infringements committed by the unsuspecting. Time to have a public official Ontario tartan and if necessary to get the old one decertified. If the current one ever was certified it smells like a political payoff- although having said that I'm helpless to do anything about it.
