Oops!
I don't know how I missed this, but there is one more HoNY design, here called HoNY6, that Amble did pursuant to an idea of Beerbecue. Somehow I missed it before, and it's so simple and direct I don't know why I didn't think of it myself. I think I still would like to see the combination of BK1 and BK2 as the official tartans, but, IMHO, this is the best of the HoNY designs and it should take the place of HoNY 1aaa as one of the options when the polling thread is started.
What do you think?

Agreed, on both points.

Just a thought, and this is not to say that NY can't do it, but does any other state have multiple variations of their tartans like dress & hunting? I have only so far seen state tartans and a few city tartans.

Iowa has a "regular" and a dress version and Arkansas has two distinct official tartans. One of them is called the Arkansas traveler tartan.

It's been by my understanding that the "Arkansas Traveler" has no official standing, but was a competitor of the AR tartan designed by Dr. Phil Smith.

Brian, I'm very glad you posted HoNY6 as beerbecue suggested. In my opinion, is is an outstanding design - elegant sett and beautiful colours. Let's see what others think.

Well, even if this one isn't that well supported by others, I would certainly have this made for myself, as of all the designs, it is by far my favorite....

It is beautiful, beerbecue, and I'm sure Nick at Scotweb would be able, and happy, to help you get cloth made up. He could probably even have it made in Harris tweed if you wanted. Wouldn't that be splendid?!?

Thanks for that, Todd. I've sen several sources that say, or imply, that both are official, but a quick trip to the Scottish Register of Tartans confirmed what you posted.
