Congratulation, Zardoz. I had a period of long term unemployment about 15 years ago - not much fun at all. I'm glad it's over for you.

Nice one Zardos, I'm chuffed for you. I've been there myself so I know how it feels when a door opens.

Thanks guys, I think it is going to be a good place for me, and I'm really looking forward to getting started. Let me say something about job hunting, I'd been at my last job for 11 years, and I went into it staight out of several years at another one. I had not really "looked for a job" for almost 20 years, and I didn't know what the hell I was doing! After months of floundering about on my own, making apps on the internet, and not getting callbacks or going into interviews unprepared etc.. I signed on with a placement and temp agency. They helped me with my resume, learned what I wanted to do, gave me tips on interviews etc.. And, after being with them for 2 weeks I had 2 interviews with companies that really matched my skills and even my desired schedule! I got hired by the second place they sent me to.
So if you are ever in the same spot, go with an agency, I wish I had sooner!

Congrats on the new job. I can't imagine how hard it must be to be out of work for that long. My congratulations to you and sympathy to those still looking.
