Kilted skirt question??

I just have to throw in my tuppence worth here!

My bride of 52 years likes long skirts. Wears them most of the time when we/she goes out. It is her thing. She has a hostess skirt, ankle length, and looks quite the laird's lady in it. She also has a mini, and makes many much younger women green with envy when she wears it. (she still has great legs!)

Having said that, however, around here (NC) most of the ladies manning the tents seem to prefer the longer skirts, below knee to ankle. Incidentally, my wife insists that a long skirt is actually cooler on a hot day, because it keeps the direct sun off more of the body.

There have also been times when she wore slacks, and a tartan sash, so I would second all those that say, wear what you feel comfortable in. The most important part is to display the tartan.

My wife has many kilted skirts from Lochcarron and range in length from the middle of her thigh, top of her knee, just below her knee, mid-shin, and at her ankles. Different lengths for different events and degrees of formality. For a hot and humid Highland games, I would go with either top of knee or mid-thigh length for coolness, especiall if, like in my wife's case, the kilted skirt is made of 10-11 ounce worsted wool (typical tartan weight for kilted skirts).
