I agree with Sandy-- that's definitely traditional. Tobus's point is also well taken, that the black-on-black look may not work over well in some lighting conditions. Before you take the plunge, you might also want to look at it against the background of your tartan, on the off chance that all that black might "kill" the sett.
You might also want to investigate the possibility of having the cantle, chains, and bells, supplied in silver, instead of the standard chrome plated brass. Just a thought.
