What goes with the Irish National tartan?

Hi all... been a while since I have been around. Keeping busy with life and all.. Hope everyone has had a GREAT New Year so far...

Well, a few pipers and I were sitting around trying to come up with a uniform of sorts, using the Irish National tartan as our kilt. We are going to wear a tie and possibly a khaki colored shirt. It doesn't necessarily have to be a military uniform, just something that we'll look good in and be a little 'different'.

I was just wondering what ideas you may have for accessories or complementing colors for shirts/hose with our tartan of choice.

I have a couple of tan/khaki dress shirts and they make a great change from the plain white dress shirt...goes with a lot of things and a good idea for a change that's slight enough to not be radical but obvious enough to make a different sort of look.

With all due respect, a Balmoral simply won't do. It has to be a caubeen.

Hmm, some good responses above. Let's see if I can give my two cents worth: IN kilt; charcoal hose with ancient yellow flashes to match the color in the tartan (more of a mustard color); accessories in black (belt, sporran sporran strap, and shoes); gray shirt; bottle green tie; black Argyle vest; green or black caubeen. How's these apples??

Or, just douse yourself in a Harp! Guinness! Or whatever!
