For the most part, but have someone pour you a glass of Ardbeg - it's close to being completely clear. Also, most of the dark color in a scotch is...coloring.

After a bit more searching i believe that the shot of Scotty used as the basis of the poster probably came from the sames episode as this pic:

As can be seen the liquid is very pale and the glass is propably what we, in this space time continuum , would refer to as a wine glass.
