    service uniform...ummm..coincidence?

Had to laugh last night after my raid on the fabric store...see, I jusr finished my navy nwu box pleat, navy blue five yard knife pleat, and I am working on an olive drab five yard...after the fifty percent off carnage of last night, I came up with khaki twill, air force digital camo twill, and enough navy nwu to do a six yarder.....It occurrs to me that It would be a cool idea to make kilts representing each of the services camo or working uniforms...just nneed usmc, and army really, as the uscg working uniform matches my navy blue...

    Me in a fabric store.....dangerous....

I always thought the Marines copyrighted their pattern to prevent casual use. Seem to remember hearing that around the time we got the ACUs and everyone was complaining it wasn't as cool looking as marpat

Though I suppose at this point it is moot, the style is easy enough to replicate and just skip the globe and anchor part.

The Marines are jealous enough of the marpat that when the Navy was making the new NWU-2s (green) and 3s (desert) that they stated that the NWU-3s could not be digital even if they had the navy logo on them instead of the Marine. The only Navy that will be allowed the NWU-3s will be SPECWAR. The rest of us have to keep using the woodlands.

    USMC Copywirte

I think it is only the Marine cammo with the Globe and Eagle that is copywrited. The stuff at Hancoch is missing that element. Its the same for the Navy verison also available at my local Hancock - no navy symbol. ith:

    Canadians Did Digital Camo First

True, the Marines have copyrighted MARPAT, but it IS worth noting that the Canadians developed their digital camo FIRST: See: http://web.archive.org/web/200712270...ed022401e.html

    See also: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/MARPAT; and http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/CADPAT

I am not Canadian, and have no dog in the hunt, I am just interested in credit going where credit is due...

    Marpat

True MARPAT has the eagle, glove, and anchor in the patrtern itself. As you look at it ever so often you'll see the EGA. In both their desert and forest.
