Probably not a coincidence...
My favorite whisky is Laphroaig.
As you may know, scotch whiskies are matured in bourbon barrels from the US.
My favorite bourbon is Maker's Mark.
Anyone want to guess where Laphroaig gets all of their bourbon barrels?
You got it...
Laphroaig buys all their bourbon barrels from Maker's Mark.
Coincidence that I like both Laphroaig and Maker's Mark?
Probably not.

I always found it interesting that scotch whisky (the elder of the two) has to be laid to rest in second hand barrels (those used first for bourbon or various wines) while Bourbon (the younger of the two) has to be laid to rest in brand new freshly charred barrels made of oak. Since bourbon was probably invented by transplanted scots or americans of scots descent, there is some strange symmetry to that I guess.
