The highest profile Scottish event in the world

...at least that's how they're billing it Dressed to Kilt 2011 - April 5 - New York City.

Their theme, "country chic" should be interesting. I applaud the charities that they are supporting.

For the first time ever I will be in attendance at this event. I'm looking forward to it, though I have been told by my host that I should expect to be up well past my bedtime. lol....

It says, "Attire: Something Scottish or Something Country", sounds like just another Texas Scottish Festival.

An interesting perception JD. When I read that "country" bit, I thought brown brogues, cord trousers, tattersall shirts, tweed, Barbour jackets.

I understand completely. Different paradigms. When I was planning for my road trip to Scotland in 2003, in which I would hire a car, I thought I was prepared for the different paradigm. Before I left, I looked up the Scottish radio stations on the Internet so that I could pre-set the car radio stations. I saw the category "Country" and thought, 'wonderful, I'll be able to listen to some Scottish folk music rather than the ubiquitous pop'. But when I got to Scotland and picked up my car, I turned to one of the country stations to here none other than Merle Haggard and Johnny Cash.

And an even different paradigm for England... Frank Turner is a contemporary guerilla folk/punk-folk musician and often refers to himself as a "skinny English country singer". (Plug time - his music is really good if you are like I, and a grown-up punk-rocker/skin person) ((linkie).

Oh, how cool! We expect a photo with Sir Sean! Seriously, I look forward to your review. The Dressed to Kilt event seems like such a zany mix of Scots/American/Celebrity mashup with fashion that I expect it will be one of those over the top affairs.

Clarification is needed, though. Will Matt be doing "his little turn" on the catwalk?

Oh, great, Matt! Will you be staying for the parade? It would be great to meet, either just myself or some of the local rabble.

Can I place an order you could bring to avoid shipping charges?
