I'm afraid that unless you find an Acrylic kilt made where the labor rate is real cheap that this may be very hard to achieve.
As an example - The fabric alone, if woven by Marton Mills in P/V, would be between $20.00 and $24.00 per yard double width at retail. That comes to between $80.00 and $96.00 jut for the fabric.
Another option would be to find a used ladies skirt in Thompson Camel or Stewart Camel. Then cut it down to a kilt.
I have one here in the shop that came from the Canadian version of the Salvation Army. One of my kiltmakers is altering it for his wife. Total cost was $4.00.
If you could stumble on a deal like this the cost of the skirt would give you some extra funds to spend on your kiltmaker's labor.
