    While I do agree, as has been pointed out elsewhere getting properly fitted out from scratch for a period not your own represents a pretty large cash outlay -- especially, I'd say, if you're going to try to portray one of the front-wankers rather than a poor tenant clansman.

    Tell me about it man. In my 16 years of reenacting with no less than a dozen different historical impressions complete with multiple outfits for each spanning from 1640-1945 it nauseates me sometimes to think of the thousands I have spent. Sickening too to think of the mistakes I have made along the way getting crap that was wrong and needed replacing right away. Its an addiction!!

    But removal of ones beard does not cost you anything. Though it caused my wife a great deal of distress and I still hate being clean shaven, but the fact of the matter is facial hair just would not be correct for my various 18th century impressions nor would it be acceptable for one of my WW2 impressions. Though its acceptable for my American Civil War and WW2 Italian impressions. Dedication!
