    Kilted Pilgrimage.

Easter weekend was another series of firsts for this poor member of the rabble. The Missus and I took a trip to Asheville, NC for an Easter outing at the Biltmore and a shopping pilgrimage over to the Scottish Tartans Museum.

Of course, there were unexpected problems: The faucet in our travel trailers sink decided to leak and had to be replaced on Saturday when we arrived, my kitten didn't like the rainstorm we had on Monday evening and jumped from the couch and onto the screen door, knocking it open and hiding in various places outside until we were able to secure her back in the trailer. But the worst was discovered on Easter Sunday: I'd left my belt, strap and sporrans at home! Yet I was determined that this minor setback was not going to stop me from being kilted (and comfortable) as we went out!

At the Biltmore, one of the staff members (Mrs. McCrae) commented on my kilt. A second staff member asked if we were there on an official function (We were official visitors: we had the tickets to prove it!). Another visitor approached my wife and asked her if I played the pipes. Since the wife enjoys taking photographs with her digital camera, I would walk ahead to look at things that were interesting to me. She had many opportunities to hear other women comment on the man in the kilt. Thankfully, she only told me about the positive ones as I am such a delicate flower!

Monday was the shopping trip to the museum and meeting Matt Newsome for the first time and Ronan MacGregor for my third. I was looking for a specific balmoral that had been sold but found another that I liked just as well. We are saving the visit to the museum proper for a later trip, possibly during the summer or fall. The balmoral that I was looking for now goes onto my wish list. And the wife may surprise me at Christmas with a ghillie shirt.

    Onto the proof:

    Looking good!

I know, I may take some crap for this, but I don't even wear a sporran all the time myself. Especially when casual (admittedly this is NOT very often). Of course, having forgot the sporran would have been all the justification I needed to pick up a new one from the STM

    Thanks for sharing.

Unfortunately, it was not in the budget this time. But they were some very nice sporrans!
