Pilgrimage to the Good Will Store, and a Lapel Question

I went down to my favorite Good Will type store today to look at jackets; they were having an half off sale. In the back of my mind I have been thinking that I should have at least one double breasted suit in my closet. I also enjoy just looking at all the different types of jacket styles, and there is always a chance that a jacket for conversion might be there.

Anyway, I did find a double breasted, navy blue jacket with gold tone buttons that fit very well; it was about the only jacket out of fifty or so that did fit well. I have navy blue trousers that match the color of the jacket, so it's all good.

Here's my question. Is this a peaked lapel or are peaked lapels a little different?
On this jacket there is only a slit between the collar and lapel. The points of the lapel angle upward

In comparison, On all of my suits, jackets, as well as, the other jackets at the store there is a wedge shaped notch between the collar and the lapel.
I've read discussion of the peaked lapels on some of the kilt jackets, and I haven't had the actual lapel to look at as an example.
    Thank you.

I think you're right, I think what you are describing is a peaked lapel. Sounds like a great find, by the way, congratulations!

That definitely sounds like a peaked lapel, Ted. Much better looking on a double-breasted blazer than a notched lapel. Good find, what is the material?

Thanks! I just wanted to be sure.

The material feels like wool or wool blend (it is deffenitly not polyester).
    It's fully lined.
The front of the jacket is interfaced with what feels to be hair canvas in a pinch test.

It is a little bit lighter weight than my other navy blue suit jacket, and that is actually a good thing out here.
There are three buttons up either side of the front of the jacket, and four buttons on each sleeve; those are gold tone with anchors.
There is a closure button on the inside, of course.
It has a breast pocket on the outside and two on the inside; as well as, a third, lower, smaller pocket on the inside.
It has the regular slash pockets with flaps that can be tucked into the pockets.
And, of course, dry clean only.

Oh, and the buttonhole on the lapell is slanted like the edge of the lapel, and the sleeves are the right length; it's the first time that has ever happened.

Ok, now that I have something with peaked lapels to look at, the Spencer waist coat at World Wide Tuxedos has peaked lapels, too. I think I like that mor than the shawl lapels on Eton jackets. Plus, those Spencer waist coats are wool rather than polyester.

If you're willing to look through a whole bunch of jackets, you can usually find something that is nice at the stores that sell donated clothing. The same goes for the four-in-hand ties.

Well, I gave the jacket a good steaming and brushing, and looked it over real well in the process. It looks to be in good shape. One small issue is that I had someone look at the jacket and the spare navy blue trousers together out in the sun light. The trousers are a different texture and material, so they look slightly different, though still the same color. I don't think it's too big of a deal, however, I have the trousers from my other navy blue suit, and those are very very close to the same texture and material. Both of the trousers are the mid-rise, beltless style of trousers, and I prefer those for my suits.

While I was doing that, I thought of the discriptions of some of the kilt jackets that have the double row of buttons up the front, like a Prince Charlie, and perhaps it gives me a little bit of an idea of how that works.

I think one of these days I would like to have a navy blue kilt jacket; the formal or black tie type things aren't really a part of my life. It's kind of fun to learn about them though.

When I have a kilt made in my tartan, I think the medium brown, and the dark brown kilt jackets I have now will be fine with that, as well as, the rusty brown Lewis hose and all the accessories. Though, I saw somewhere that Freedom Kilts had coco brown hose... that would be nice with the tartan.

I do think a dark green jacket would go well with all that... to make it more foresty. As well as, the bottle green hose.
