Amen to that, Matt.
I find my faith in humanity dies a little bit more every time I turn on the telly.

I've stopped going to television for news. I think they stopped providing news about 10 years ago or so. I've been getting my news from a few sources on the radio and Internet for quite a while. It's sad...I read a newspaper daily for years ever since high school, but most newspapers, it seems, have been cutting back so much that they're barely qualified to continue to call themselves journalists.

Couldn't agree more Matt, I rarely watch TV nowadays.

I agree, Matt. We shut off the cable about a year ago and the only thing I really miss is . . . well, I don't miss it at all.
I do confess to watching the highlights of the wedding online today though.

I thought it was refreshing to have some happy news for a change.

I am certainly not a Monarchist being born and brought up in Scotland but I do admit I do like the pomp of such occasions. We do it so well in the UK and very few other countries have the traditions and the history.
It must be of interest as the event was broadcast to over 180 countries with an expected audience of 2 billion people.

Well here we're in the middle of the most important election of my lifetime and it got completely interrupted right before we vote on Monday. I sure could've done with less of the pomp and ceremony right now.

Don't worry. I'm sure we'll have another election soon. You'll be able to make up what you missed then.

Just like going to the movies, or reading a work of fiction, or getting drunk in the pub...I think the Royal Wedding was an escape from the every day drudgery of life for a lot of people, especially us women. I mean, OK, so there's one less Prince Charming available, but it gives us hope that we could (maybe) (possibly) (OK not really) snag one of our own! lol It really just feeds the "fairy-tale" fantasy that we learn as little girls! Plus her dress really was beautiful...
