Exactly, just as I would at any other muddy event held in a large field, whatever my other attire. The ones I presently have are not capable of being polished up. They have the wrong type of finish. I don't see that as a problem, though.

If I ever get invited to a formal kilted event I will likely wear brogues (non ghillie, LOL!), although I don't think I have a serviceable pair at present, but should probably get some. The jacket would be a bigger problem, although I do have a semi-formal sporran that I've never worn.
My hiking boots are Timberlands that don't take a shine. I also have a pair of waterproof boots by Polo that I wore in Scotland and that I've worn with my kilt at games. And, a pair of black Harley boots.
