Kilt with boots - again
So, I am thinking about wearing my kilt out for the first time in a casual setting this evening. I have a pair of black station boots that I was going to wear with them... the question is the old familiar hose question. I only own white kilt hose. Don't shoot me. I know the popular convention would be to wear them scrunched down... without flashes, right? Should I give that a whirl and see how it suits me? Any other suggestions? Normal socks?

I'd say sure go ahead and try the scrunched look. While it's not my cup of tea, I only figured that out buy trying it myself.

You're right! Only one way to find out for sure! Might I ask if you don't do the scrunch, what's your style? Hose high and proud with boots?

Aye I almost always wear the hose up, sometimes with flashes sometimes without.

While I only own black at the moment instead of white, I wear mine up with flashes. It might be a little too "military" for some folks, but I like it.
I have gray hiking socks from Sock Dreams that I used to wear scrunched down with my UKs if I wanted to look more casual.

I wear mine up with flashes, and 14 i Gripfast boots, I like the "military" look as well.

I do the boots and scrunch look often. But don't feel like your limited to wearing your kilt hose! While I generally wear kilt hose and flashes with shoes, with boots I use heavy boot socks from discount sporting goods stores, soccer socks, whatever. Much more economical and can often be found in colors that go well with my kilts. You might want to check out the casual pics for ideas.
Best regards,
Jake

If you decide to wear your white hose down don't worry that you'll somehow be inauthentic. Here's a picture that was posted from Pour1Malt from Scotland.

great picture- lads' stopoff at a motorway services enroute to a cup tie...
that gretna for the cup shirt certainly is a rare collectible...
tacoma- if the weather is cool enough out there by you, try a pair of heavy, dark colored work socks such as timberland, l.l. bean, etc that you may have in the sock drawer. it's what i'll occasionally go with when going casual in boots.
