Skippys list item #39. Not allowed to ask for the day off due to religious purposes, on the basis that the world is going to end, more than once.
That said, if I see anyone just spontaneously vaporize, I'll buy a six pack.

    To quote the XKCD webcomic:
"So, are you worried about the rapture?"
"No, unless it figures out how to open doors."
    "I said rapture."

Don't get me wrong, I long for the rapture, but this guy is a kook. I tried to contact him to ask if he is so sure then how about giving me a million dollars from his EXTENSIVE fortune but I couldn't find any contact info. He's gonna need that money to backpedal on a global scale when he's wrong.

Well, my own calculations show that there have been approximately 731,000 days since the time of Jesus, on whose belief these predictions are based. I therefore would propose that there is perhaps a one in 731,000 chance of this actually happening.

    Or not.

This is sort of a good news/bad news scenario. The good news is: if it does happen, there will be a lot less people coming to the door asking if we've been saved. The bad news: if it does not happen, those who thought it would will not be deterred.

I am a little distressed about this, as I still have two jacket/waistcoat sets and one kilt on order which I have not yet recieved, and thus which may be a waste of money afterall.

On the bright side, since it is supposed to be an apocalyptic earthquake, and I will be in the air en route across the Atlantic to London when it is scheduled to occur, I should miss all the shaking and tidal waves. However I am a bit concerned about whether there will be a safe and dry place to land. Maybe I should also pack some snacks just to be safe as power will undoubtedly be out wherever we land, making vending machines and restaurants non-functional. Hope the duty frees are still open--need to get some new bottles of scotch.
