I like the idea of removable buttons, which could indeed work. I am a former U.S. Marine, and I recall my dress blue blouse have removable anodized metal buttons, which could easily be removed for cleaning of the buttons and/or the blouse. Perhaps the same method could be applied the waistcoat in order to create more versatility? Good idea - that could have saved me quite a bit of money a while ago!

Ok, this has officially just become a hijack. But I can't contain myself... I actually ordered my Regulation Doublet today!!! Matching, 3 button waistcoat. One day... a lovely tartan waistcoat on the bias (3 buttons, or 4... a la JSFMACLJR!).
