Good links above - There were many Scottish mercenaries that ended up in Poland and stayed.

We have a large population of Polish immigrants here in Connecticut and I've met several with distinctively Scottish names whose ancestors were in Poland for several hundred years.

One more: a Polish Pipe Band:

Interestingly, the Poles have "Highlanders" in their Army as well:

The Podhale Rifles, a mountain rinfantry regiment of the Polish Army. The Gorales (literaly "Highlanders" in Polish) have a large population in Chicago:

I have nothing but respect for the Polish people, who truly know the price of freedom.

Thanks for the links Todd! By the way...can anyone identify the tartan that the pipe band is wearing?

It does make me wonder if my dad has Scottish ancestry of some sort. Unfortunately, I really only know his name and have but one picture of him from before I was born...which doesn't help much. oop:

in recognition to the many contributions made to Scotland by the Polish, a tartan was designed and created to celebrate their association
