The carnauba wax as used in shoe polish acts as a protective coating extending the life of the leather.

Longhunter74, I use Kiwi for my shoes and boots as well (did my first spit shine more than four decades ago.) I use their Parade Gloss polish, which they claim has more carnauba wax than regular paste polish.
