I didn't get the costume I originally wanted, and I decided not to wear the kilt, so I went to a store last minute and got...of all things...a french maid outfit. The reactions were mostly horrified stares - which I completely understand.
No pictures cause I don't want to burn anyone's retinas out.

EXCELLENT!! I wish I could have seen that. My best friend got a pirate costume and a Richard Nixon mask.

Nighthawk should appreciate this, several years ago, pre-kilted days, a friend of mine and I were trying to come up with the "ultimate" Halloween costume. Since I had done some stage make up work and had some left over LaTeX, we decided to go as Pan and a dryad. Her leaves were rather easy, the wood toning on the arms and legs were touchy (she kept saying I was tickling her), we settled for a wig rather than dying her hair green. I on the other hand, took over 6 hours to get the hair on the legs and up my back. The horns were rams horns mounted to a really ratted out wig, we went to three parties, including one sponsored by a local radio station, and won first prize at all of them. Great time, first time I was ever "kilt" checked, although I was not wearing a kilt. (Hair covered jock strap, and LOTS of wool.
This year, I incorporated the kilt into a "pirate" ala the dead guys from Pirates of the Caribbean (when the moon is shining), got more complements on the kilt than the Latex and Makeup.

I do indeed appreciate that! (I haven't been able to find that information you asked me for, by the way, but I will be sending you a PM in the next day or two.) Thanks for that story. It gives me ideas for next year. I would make a great Green Man. My chest is sure hairy enough!
