Just ordered mine yesterday - our pipe band is going to be on the news during our Sunday practice so I hope to have it tomorrow or Saturday. Finally going to have my clan kilt!

I hope you get it before Sunday too, I haven't seen a wool SWk yet.

I like the wool of my SW Lamont much better than the fabric of their standard Nightstalker. Any opinion on what the weight is? All I have to compare to is the 2005 Nightstalker, which is pretty light.

Well. I'll go the opposite way here. My SW Black Watch heavyweight is rather heavier than the Lamont. Soooooo, somewhere in between. Jerry told me in an email that the Lamont was approx 13 oz wool. I guess he should know, but then he calls the Black Watch 16 oz and I personally think it's a bit heavier than that. What I have to go on is a 5 yard heavyweight 16 oz from scottishkilts.net from the Jura mill. The fabric of my Black Watch SW is definitely heavier than this cloth, while the fabric of my Lamont seems really close to the same as the Jura 16 oz. Without snipping off pieces of my kilts and whacking them on a scale that's about as close as I can estimate.
In some ways my SW Black Watch is my favorite kilt, the hang, the swing, the solid feel of it. My Jura 5 yarder is easily the best made and the cloth is really superb. My Sw Lamont I think has a superior cloth to the Black Watch but the "Tank" feeling just isn't there.
I'm keeping all of them though, and rotating them pretty fairly as well. My SW standard I like, but it's a stretch to hang it in the same closet as the others really, and it's the red headed stepchild as far as getting in the kilt rotation.
I really have to get myself a real "Tank" just to see if there's really $200 to $400 worth of difference between that and the **** kilts.

It looks great, I like all the positive things that are being said, but how did you guys find out about these? They don't show on the Stillwater site or store. Are they an unlisted special of somekind?

I've got mine about two weeks ago and finally was able to give it a good test run last Friday at a Clan Na Gael concert in Sumter, SC. I then wore my SWK Heavyweight Black Watch at the games on Saturday and my Anderson tartan tank to the ceiliedh that evening.
While there is no mistaking the craftsmanship of my tank, I can't imagine anyone going wrong with a Stillwater wool kilt. I agree the Lamont is lighter than the Blackwatch, it's weight is comparable to my tank which I know to be 13 oz.

Oswulf, That looks great. I am not usually a big fan of browns but that is really nice. I'll have to take another look at browns in tartans. You will be sure to get good compliments when out and about!
