As usual Chris, your content is only surpassed by your eloquence.

Seriously, though, I'm wondering if it's not some of that same Scots pride that emerged as the Texas pride we are so famous for! Maybe we could say, Celtic "sense of place." Let's face it, Scots, Irish and Texan are pretty nationalistic and that's probably a shared gene!

(Now that I'm reading Grady McWhiney's "Cracker Culture," those Celtic genes seem to be popping up all over the place  )

Personally, I'd rather have Snake Pliskin than old and fat Elvis...

Mike I know you have connections in the UK the documenty is repeated frequently on the Biography channel on Sky digital, If it comes on again Ill record it as it is worth watching it dispells a lot of myths and features ain interview with sir David Ross. people hav searched for years or Stirling bridge and these 2 fishermen found it just using a jam jar and a little boat.

Daz, I'd heard David comment the discovery, just as you're describing. Amazing at how 'technologically advanced' the equipment was, eh? I'll have Carol keep an eye out for it and record it for me. I'm back across the first week of July, maybe if I cross my fingers, it will be on before then.
