Hi,
Welcome. You've come to the right place for learning about all things kilted.
Bob
In theory there is no difference between theory and practice but in practice there is.

First, welcome from another Ohioan. Check out the Kilt Nights forum if you might be interested in visiting Cincinnati in your kilt.
Second, Dale, I think that's your quote. Hamish's is more along the lines of "Nonsense, anyone can wear a kilt."

Welcome from Phoenix!
I'm Swedish and German and because I don't have a drop of Scottish blood I'm wearing Utilikilts. It's also the price, quality, design, and comfort that I love about them.
I wear them number one because they are so comfortable but I also think it is a welcome change of pace after being FORCED to wear pants for FIFTY YEARS. I am so SICK of wearing pants!
So now I wear a kilt when I'm not at work....whenever I can.....and I'm probably trying to make up for wearing pants for the last fifty years. If I could only wear kilts everywhere including at work for another fifty years I would finally break even.
Anyway, don't worry about asking silly questions. Many questions have been answered here and you will find the answers if you use the "search" function but if you can't find the answer we can always point you in the right direction.

Welcome from Southeast New Mexico. As the rest have already expressed, you don't have to be a "Mac" to wear the kilt! Wear what you like, and do it with pride.

And greetings from Chicago...
...what was that old ad campaign..."You don't have to be Jewish to enjoy Rosen's Rye Bread"? Well, you don't have to be Polish to eat Polish Sausage, you don't have to be Italian to eat an Italian Beef....the list goes on....Swedish Meatballs...Chinese Checkers...you get the idea. What the rest of the rabble said: you don't have to be a Scot to wear a kilt. Think of it as the "Pants Alternative"...as I often say when I really don't want to get into a big discussion: "you wear shorts, right?...I wear a kilt...what's the difference?" Think of it as one of the Scots' great gifts to mankind...just like India gave us the Nehru Jacket...just like Bermuda gave us Bermuda Shorts...
...or, better still, tell them that one day you were walking down the beach and you saw a guy drowning in the ocean and you swam in and saved him and when he regained his composure, he announced that he was Scottish nobility and, as a reward for saving his life, he was granting you the greatest privilege that a Scot could grant: permission to wear the kilt wherever and whenever you liked for the rest of your life.
Best
