I'm sorry. I didn't realise this had been done in other threads. I'll do penance for not using "search". Mea culpa...
But, the strange part is, I ordered mine sometime around 20 January. It just arrived. Literally, a few minutes after I started this thread! Why some orders take longer than others, I couldn't tell you.
The one I was thinking of as a cross-cultural skean dhu, isn't quite as big as I'd feared. It's a perfect size IMO. The handle is relatively smaller, as it's a miniature.
Overall, it's about 7", and it doesn't seem to be as "razor sharp" as it's full size counterpart. Well, it is after all, merely a trinket, or intended as a letter opener. I think it will work quite well, as I don't intend to draw it ever anyway. It's a very tight fit in the scabbard, and it'd probably come out of the kilt hose all together anyway, requiring your other hand to remove the scabbard.

If you want to carry a SD then get a SD. I some times wonder about this.......folk just seem to want to carry knives.

Yeah, I agree with that...
I never leave the house w/o something nice and sharp; but if I'm kilted, it has to be a sgian dubh.

"The Barry" needs to carry weapons, he has been known to hang around with certain known Highland Hooligans whose familiar backgrounds would make me nervous

The real McCoy
I picked up the real McCoy when in Katmandu in 1983. There are two smaller knives in the sheath with 2 1/2 inch blades. The knife itself has a 9 1/2 inch blade. When I leave home, I leave without it.

Hey, it takes a real man to sleep next to a Campbell every night!
And you think that you're nervous!
