...Or just sew the waistband FROM a pair of regular jockey shorts. I know I have a few that went into the rag pile where the band was still good...

i was thinking away today and have just decided to buy a womens underskirt and cut it to length rather than go through the seamstress route .....its alot cheaper and fair easier to get hold of a waist size to suit me than mess about with needles and thread bonus with that its already going to be elasticated and you can buy colours to go with the kilt

My personal solution is to buy "Tall" shirts. In Canada we have a chain called Mark's Work Wearhouse that carries their own house brands, but also Dickey and Carhartt and other things from nurses' uniforms to construction gear to steel-toed work boots.
I'm close to six feet tall, so most of my shirts are OK with pants but too short for comfort with a kilt. I occasionally purchase a few shirts in tall length, and then simply put a couple of Dritz snaps below the last button. They hang low enough to do the trick. Check snap placement, however. It's a rude awakening to hit the metal inside of one of those snaps on a very cold day. ![Twisted Evil](http://www.xmarksthescot.com/forum/images/smilies/icon_twisted.gif)
I also buy long-body t-shirts. Fruit of the Loom and Hanes both make one, and I also find them in the Mark's house brand. The advantage with them is that I can wear them as part of a casual ensemble, or I can wear them under an otherwise just-a-tidge-short shirt and nobody will see it because I'm wearing a tie so my collar is buttoned up.

As long as you don't call it the "Man Slip", it just might work!

Tell the clerk you're looking for a "half-slip." They are made for all lengths of skirt, so there should be a "just above the knee" version that won't require alteration.

What'd they call them: kilt liners? I think I'll avoid the nylon ones that come up with the "Kilt slip" search.

I remember a time, not so long ago, when your new kilt WAS DELIVERED by your kilt maker and a discrete pair of black silk boxer type shorts were also provided, as a matter of course.

Some one had designed and made under kilt before. The market wasn't ready for it. However, Riverkilt bought a few off him.
If I need to wear something under the kilt, I will just reach for a pair of underwear.
