What about the specific evolution of the kilt and accompanying items (eg. ghillie brogues, sporran, kilt pin).

Sounds like it's going to be a fantastic speech! Good luck!

As my rogue is just starting getting kitted up he doesn't have everything yet. He has his kilts, hose, ghilies, and flashes (which i have to make) Otherwise I would do the whole "pieces of a fully kited up kilt" speech.
I'm trying to decide if I should end with Steve Ashton's paraphrased quote of "“Be it a tank or a contemporary MacTablecloth’, there is a power in The Kilt. Enjoy and revel in the power of the kilt." OR a warning to the ladies that unless they want asked what is under their skirts don't ask what is under a man's kilt.

What might be rather impressive if you can arrange it, is to create a kilt length of material say 2ft by 8 yards, lay it in a box or roll it up and have several people from your audience come to assist in opening it out, and out.
Maybe you could get a couple of dark coloured sheets from a goodwill shop, to tear into strips - you might even draw where the folds would fall, approximately, using white chalk.
Then show the made kilt, and swish the pleats.
That is the joy of a kilt, the swish.
Assuming that you could not get your rogue to wear one and show what it looks like when worn.
The amount of fabric would get their attention straight away, for sure.

Sounds like you've got it under control
I'm curious as to why you're giving the presentation? What's bringing that diverse group of people together?

It is toastmasters international. It is a weekly meeting of people who are working to be better public speakers and leaders. I've been doing it for 6 years and I love it. Trust me I was scared to death the first time I went to a meeting, now I am not afraid to talk to people at all. When i was in collage I couldn't do 2 minutes for speech class. Now I 2 minutes on improptu speaking at any time.
There are "goal levels" that you can acheive. The first is "Toastmaster" you got up in front of your fellow club members and talked about yourself for 5 minutes. You met your first goal. 2nd, "Conpetant Toastmaster" you completed 10 speeches! 3rd "Competant Leader" , you take on the different leadership roles with in the meetings, and are evaluated on them by a peer. They are there to help you.
Once you meet those 3 goals you can go for your "Advanced Toastmast Levels" The first is Bronze. That is 10 speeches from 2 different advanced topic books. These are like "intreptive reading", "storytelling," "The entertaining speaker," "The informative speaker" ( One i'm currently doing), "Special occasion speeches", "Speaking for television" . There are like 30 books available to choose from. After you have done your 10 speeches you turn in the paperwork to show you did them and you get your ATM-bronze pin. In my 6 years I have complete that (had to take 2 years off) And now I'm half way to my silver level (another 10 speechs out of different books). There is even a gold level. Once you get your gold, and complete the leadership track you can reach your piniecal as a Distinquished Toastmaster. :-)
When my rogue and I visited New Zealand a few years ago we got to meet with fellow toastmasters over there. It was really cool.
